The Interlake Filipino Community (IFC) was proud to once again bring Filipino culture, colour, music, and community spirit to the Arborg Street Festival.

This year’s parade entry was more than just a float. It was a celebration of the families who now call Arborg home, a tribute to our Filipino heritage, and a heartfelt expression of gratitude to the community that has welcomed us.

A Float Built by the Community

Bright colours filled the streets as our Filipino-inspired float made its way through Arborg. Decorated with colourful balloon arches, flowers, Filipino colours, and proudly flying the Philippine flag, the float represented the warmth, joy, and creativity of our community.

The parade also featured a colourful Filipino jeepney, adding another unmistakable symbol of the Philippines to the celebration.

But what made the entry truly special were the people behind it.

From planning and decorating to preparing costumes, arranging the vehicles, carrying flags, helping the children, and walking alongside the float, every part of the presentation was made possible through the time and effort of IFC members, families, friends, and volunteers.

Seeing children, parents, and community members walking together was a beautiful reminder of what IFC represents: different stories and generations coming together as one community.

“One Heart, One Community” — Our Song for Arborg

This year’s celebration became even more meaningful with our themed song, “One Heart, One Community.”

Created to represent the Filipinos of Arborg, the song celebrates unity, friendship, culture, gratitude, and the Filipino spirit of bayanihan.

Its message reflects our story as a community — bringing our traditions with us while building new friendships and a new home here in Canada.

At the heart of the song is a simple message:

No matter where our individual journeys began, we can stand together with one heart and one community.

It is also our way of saying thank you to Canada and to the people of Arborg for the kindness, friendship, and opportunities our families have experienced here.

Bringing the Story to Life Through Our Music Video

To commemorate this special celebration, IFC also created a “One Heart, One Community” music video, bringing together moments from our community and the Arborg Street Festival.

Through the music and images, we hope people can see more than a parade float. We hope they see the friendships, families, volunteers, children, traditions, and shared experiences that continue to shape the Filipino community in Arborg.

The colourful float, Philippine flags, traditional clothing, smiling volunteers, and families celebrating together tell the same story as the song:

We are proud of where we came from, grateful for where we are today, and excited about what we can build together.

Celebrating Culture While Giving Back

For IFC, participating in local celebrations is not simply about representing Filipino culture. It is also about becoming an active part of the wider community.

Events like the Arborg Street Festival give us an opportunity to share our traditions while forming stronger connections with our neighbours.

We want our children to grow up proud of their Filipino roots while also understanding the importance of participating, volunteering, and contributing to the community they call home.

Thank You, Arborg ❤️

To everyone who waved, cheered, smiled, took photos, and welcomed us along the parade route — thank you.

To every IFC member, family, volunteer, and supporter who helped make our float possible, maraming salamat po. Every balloon tied, flower arranged, costume prepared, vehicle decorated, and hour volunteered contributed to something our community can be proud of.

And to the Town of Arborg and the organizers of the Arborg Street Festival, thank you for giving communities like ours a place to celebrate, participate, and share our culture.

The parade may have lasted only a short time, but the memories, friendships, and sense of belonging created through it will stay with us much longer.

One Heart. One Community. One Arborg.

Watch our “One Heart, One Community” music video and celebrate with us as we look back on this special moment for the Filipino community in Arborg.
