Honouring Our Community: Filipino Community Awards Now Open for Nominations

For more than a decade, the Filipino community has been strengthened by individuals whose dedication, service, and leadership have quietly uplifted others. The Filipino Community Awards were established to formally recognize and honour these individuals—particularly seniors, elders, and long-serving community members—whose contributions have created lasting and meaningful impact.
Rooted in the Filipino values of bayanihan, service, respect, integrity, and cultural pride, the awards celebrate those who have helped preserve our heritage, support community well-being, and inspire future generations through their actions and example.
Purpose of the Awards
The Filipino Community Awards aim to:
Honour Filipino seniors, elders, and community members with long-standing or meaningful contributions
Recognize lifelong service, leadership, volunteerism, and community impact
Preserve Filipino heritage, stories, and cultural legacy
Inspire younger generations through real and lived examples of bayanihan and service
Award categories may include, but are not limited to:
Gawad Haligi ng Pamayanan,
Gawad Bayanihan,
Gawad Paglilingkod,
Gawad Inspirasyon, and
Gawad Pamana,
These awards reflect the many ways individuals serve and uplift the community. Categories may be adjusted annually to reflect evolving community priorities.
Nomination Timeline & Selection Process
To ensure fairness, transparency, and thoughtful review, the Filipino Community Awards follow a clear and respectful process:
Call for Nominations Opens: January 30
Nomination Period: Open until October 30
Review & Selection: Conducted by an independent community selection committee with declared conflict-of-interest safeguards
Award Presentation: Honourees are recognized during the community Year-End Celebration
Selected awardees and their families will be notified privately prior to any public announcement.
Eligibility & Who May Be Nominated
Nominations may be submitted for:
Filipino seniors, elders, or individuals with long-term community service
Community members who demonstrate Filipino values, leadership, and positive, ethical impact
Individuals residing in or with significant ties to the local Filipino community
Nominations may be submitted by community members, organizations, churches, schools, volunteer groups, or past award recipients. Posthumous nominations are welcome with family consent.
How to Nominate
Each nomination must include:
A completed nomination form
The nominee’s full name and contact details
The award category being nominated for
A written statement describing the nominee’s contributions, years of service, and community impact
Optional supporting materials such as photos, letters of support, or testimonials may also be included.
