Our History

Filipinos have been part of the Interlake Region for more than a decade — building families, contributing to the local workforce, and quietly sharing culture through everyday life, friendships, and community involvement.

Over the years, informal gatherings, cultural participation, and shared traditions laid the foundation for something greater. As the community continued to grow, so did the desire to come together in a more organized and inclusive way.

In 2025, this vision became a reality with the formation of the Interlake Filipino Community of Manitoba Inc. — a registered, community-led non-profit organization created to represent, connect, and support Filipinos across the region and nearby communities.

Our history is rooted in resilience, cooperation, and the Filipino spirit of bayanihan — working together to uplift one another. What began as small acts of connection has grown into a shared commitment to celebrate heritage, build bridges, and create a strong sense of belonging for present and future generations.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to build a welcoming and inclusive community where Filipino heritage is celebrated and shared, while supporting integration, collaboration, and mutual respect within the broader Interlake community.

Through cultural events, social gatherings, educational initiatives, and community partnerships, we aim to strengthen relationships, uplift one another, and create lasting positive impact.
