Helping Youth Build Skills, Confidence, and Responsibility

The is proud to explore and support opportunities for youth development through practical learning programs such as a Babysitting Course for young people in the Interlake community.

This program is designed to help youth and young adults develop important life skills, responsibility, confidence, and basic childcare knowledge that can benefit them both personally and professionally.

  • First aid basics and accident prevention

  • Age-appropriate activities and play

  • Feeding and bedtime routines

  • Communication with parents and guardians

  • Handling difficult situations calmly and responsibly

Supporting Youth in the Community

This initiative aims to provide local youth with practical skills that can:

  • Prepare them for future employment opportunities

  • Build self-confidence

  • Encourage independence and responsibility

  • Help them contribute positively to families and the community

For many young people, this may also become a stepping stone toward future careers in education, healthcare, childcare, community work, or leadership roles.

A Family & Community-Oriented Program

We hope this program will become a valuable resource not only for youth participants but also for families in the Interlake region who are looking for trained and responsible young babysitters within the community.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to support and encourage youth participation as a way to help develop life skills and community engagement.

Future Community Opportunities

As the program grows, IFC Manitoba hopes to partner with:

  • Certified trainers and instructors

  • Schools and youth organizations

  • Community centres

  • Local volunteers and mentors

Additional youth-focused workshops and leadership programs may also be developed in the future to continue supporting the next generation.

Investing in the Next Generation

At IFC Manitoba, we believe that empowering youth today helps build stronger families and communities tomorrow.

Through programs like the Babysitting Course, we hope to encourage responsibility, compassion, leadership, and confidence while continuing the Filipino values of care, respect, and bayanihan within our growing community.
