Community Clean-Up & Town Sweep Drive

Filipinos Giving Back to the Interlake Community

At IFC Manitoba, we believe that caring for the community means taking action together. Through the spirit of bayanihan, we are proud to launch our Community Clean-Up & Town Sweep Drive — a volunteer initiative dedicated to helping keep the Interlake clean, beautiful, and welcoming for everyone.

This program brings together Filipino families, youth, volunteers, and community supporters who will participate in scheduled clean-up activities across the region, including roadside areas, river banks, parks, public spaces, and town streets.

Why We Are Doing This

The Interlake has become home to many Filipino families who now live, work, and raise their children in this region. This initiative is our way of giving back to the communities that welcomed us.

Beyond cleaning public spaces, this program is also about:

• Encouraging volunteerism and civic pride

• Teaching youth the importance of environmental responsibility

• Building friendships and teamwork

• Creating a cleaner and safer environment for everyone

• Showing appreciation for the towns and communities we call home

  
  

Planned Community Clean-Up Areas

Volunteers will help clean areas such as:

• Roadside ditches and highways

• River banks and public water access areas

• Town streets and sidewalks

• Parks and recreation areas

• Community gathering spaces

Volunteer Schedule

Our clean-up drives will be organized throughout the spring and summer season. Specific schedules and meeting locations will be announced through:

• Our Facebook page

• Community group chats

• IFC Manitoba website updates

• Volunteer announcements

Participants may join individually, with friends, or as family groups.

Safety & Volunteer Guidelines

To help ensure everyone’s safety and comfort, volunteers are encouraged to:

• Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes

• Bring gloves if available

• Stay hydrated

• Follow safety instructions from volunteer coordinators

• Respect wildlife and private property

Garbage bags and additional supplies may be provided depending on the location and volunteer turnout.

Youth & Family Participation

We encourage youth and families to participate as a way to promote responsibility, teamwork, and community involvement. Parents and guardians are welcome to join alongside their children during scheduled clean-up events.

Businesses & Organizations Welcome

We also welcome partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and sponsors who would like to support this initiative through:

• Supplies and equipment

• Volunteer participation

• Food and refreshments

• Safety materials

• Sponsorship support
